Dr. Panos Gikas: Doctor Passionate In Research & Pre-Surgical Interventions

A resident of London, England and one of the top doctors in the orthopaedic surgery field, Dr. Panos Gikas has extensive knowledge in bone surgery. Some of his specializations include primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, the surgical management of bone cancer of both the primary and metastatic varieties, and cartilage injuries. As a passionate researcher and teacher, Gikas also is a lecturer at the University College of London. He issues extensive recommendations on dealing with the diagnosis of arthritis and methods through which to avoid the need for surgical interventions.

Panos Gikas received a BSC in Medical Genetics at the University of London and an MBBS at St. George’s, University of London where he earned First Class Honours in both. From there Gikas went on to earn his PhD in General Surgery at the University of Athens and his MD from University College, London. He then became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England specializing in trauma and orthopaedics.

The latest techniques and studies in hip and knee reconstruction and bone and soft tissue cancer are being studied in depth by Dr. Panos Gikas. Throughout the course of his career, Gikas has displayed great enthusiasm and exemplary talent for clinical research. He is widely published in his field as seen here and also is a featured speaker at a variety of specialized medical conferences. As the recipient of multiple grants for his field-altering research, Dr. Panos Gikas is the named author of seven book chapters and more than 30 peer-reviewed journals, many of which have had a positive effect on the adaptation of current national guidelines regarding the manner in which cartilage defects are currently managed in the knee joint.

Dr. Panos Gikas, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, holds a position on the Special Register of the General Medical Council and also is a member of several other boards such as the British Orthopaedic Oncology Society, the Seddon Society, the European Musculo-Skeletal Oncology Society, and many prestigious associations.

In his adventures outside of the working realm, Dr. Panos Gikas enjoys such activities as sailing and water skiing, plus is an avid traveler. In addition to his primary language of English, Gikas is also fluent in Greek.
