Three Georgetown Undergraduates Transform a Startup Into a $95 Million Venture

Nathaniel Ru, Nicolas Jammet and Jonathan Neman never knew that they would one day be millionaires eight years after graduating from college. With no much expectation except for a few bucks to help sustain themselves, the three undergraduates started Sweetgreen. The company is one of the most popular food chain companies in the United States.

Nicolas, Nathaniel and Jonathan started Sweetgreen in a single shop in Georgetown nine years ago. They managed to put up a store after getting funds from over 40 relatives and friends. The company now has 31 outlets nationwide with about $95 million assets.

The brilliant young men held a round-table discussion while in college. They contemplated what life would be after graduating. They decided to hatch a master plan that would see them survive the hustles and bustles associated with job hunting. Both of them came from business families. With the entrepreneurship background, they already knew what they wanted to do, which was to start a business.

During an interview, Nathaniel Ru acknowledged that they made it to the top as young entrepreneurs because of hard work and determination. They understood the challenges that come with a new business, but they fearlessly gave it a shot. Today, he alongside his colleagues can smile as they admire the fruits of their labor and courage.
